Still waiting for these extremely high temperatures that were promised earlier in the week – perhaps this weekend!
Summertime for us means a great deal of planning for the Tiptree World Bread Awards which take place each year in Westminster Hall in London in early September, we have been nominated again and are working on some new breads which we hope will be award winning quality. Each of the bakers are coming up with different ideas and our final entries will be chosen from those and also customer ideas so if you think we should be making a particular bread then do let us know! We would also be grateful if you would let us know your favourite so we can make sure we enter the most popular breads as they could be popular with the judges too!
This year there is also a People’s Choice Bakery category so if you think we are a bakery worth visiting then please do vote for us at www.worldbreadawards.com/peoples-choice/ We would really appreciate your vote.
We have really been excited to see Britain doing so well in the Olympics, obviously we watch on catch up (bed time is early in the Anderson household!!) Didn’t Joe Clarke, who trains at Lee Valley do brilliantly to win a gold in the canoe slalom!
Tomorrow is Sourdough Saturday and the bakers will be making five different sourdough breads, if you haven’t tried a sourdough bread yet there will be plenty of tasting samples available for you to try. Perhaps also worth trying are our new range of cheeses from Cherry Tree – can you think of a better snack than lovely bread, cheese and pickle?
Noel will be making his beautiful quiches for the weekend including smoked salmon and samphire, red pepper and asparagus and also chorizo. Lorraine and Mel are making some beautiful fresh salads to go with them – easy catering! We can make whole quiches for you or portions, if you would like to order we will be sure to make your quiche and salads and have them ready for you to collect.
Pizzas will be on the menu also in the Courtyard on Friday, Saturday and Sunday – you can choose your toppings and watch your pizza being made, either eat here in the sunshine or to take home.
Enjoy the sunshine and have a lovely weekend.
Nick and Jane and all the staff at Mayfield Farm Bakery.
