Wishing all our bakery friends a very Happy New Year! We do hope you have all enjoyed the festive period and the mild weather we have been fortunate enough to have so far this winter. Christmas at the bakery was busy and it was super to see so many of you on the run up to the big day. Many of you received Bakery School vouchers as presents so we would like to suggest you telephone or call in as soon as possible to book the date you would prefer for you day baking with Nick, the first set of course dates for 2016 are starting to fill up fairly quickly now. If you would like a copy of the prospectus do email or telephone. The bakery day starts at 10.00 and we provide everything you will need for the day including apron, tea towel, recipe sheets and lunch. You will take home all the bread you have made which is usually five or six loaves – so you may want to make sure you have room in your freezer!
If you are due to come on a bakery course may we suggest you visit the bakery first to have a look at all the breads because a visit often sparks all sorts of questions and your bakery school day is the ideal opportunity to ask the bakers any questions you may have.
Vouchers for Afternoon Tea have also been given as gifts this year so if you received one of these then do telephone and we will organise a date for you and your guests in the coffee shop. All the food is prepared to order so when you telephone we will check any special dietary requirements with you and of course Noel our Patisserie Chef will prepare your patisserie to order also. We recommend that you book for 2pm or 2.30 as it is generally a little quieter in the coffee shop so you can enjoy a leisurely time to enjoy your tea.
We will be doing special Afternoon Teas throughout the year for example for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day and Easter – we have already taken some bookings for Valentine’s Day which falls on a Sunday this year. If you think you would like to join us on 14 February do telephone as soon as possible.
Our opening hours are now back to normal ie Tuesday to Saturday from 8.00am until 4.00pm and Sundays from 10.00am until 4.00pm. Monday we are closed because this is when we run the bakery school.
We will be running the Meet The Baker sessions again throughout the year, this is specifically for groups of people – often U3A or lunch clubs etc who join us for a bakery talk and demonstration usually followed by lunch or Afternoon Tea in the coffee shop. If you belong to such a group do telephone for details. If you have visited us previously – you may be interested in visiting again Nick is also preparing a talk on the history of bread and a different demonstration! Nick and I would like to wish all our customers a very happy New Year and special thanks for all the support and encouragement you have given us in the last few years.
