Bakery & Ethos
We believe in good, wholesome food, traditionally made without the use of unnecessary preservatives and colourings. We are keen to use the very best ingredients and from the closest source, keeping food miles to a minimum and our impact on the environment as small as possible.
We use flour milled by the Essex firm of Marriages, they are a sixth generation family business who are leading experts in producing top quality flour, much of which is grown in Essex.
Whether you are looking for the very best quality bread for yourself, for a gift, or you’d just like to try something different, why not come and see what we have to offer.
“At Mayfield Farm Bakery we believe everyone should do what they can,to support others.”

Our charitable beliefs
We believe in good, wholesome food, traditionally made without the use of unnecessary preservatives and colourings. We are keen to use the very best ingredients and from the closest source, keeping food miles to a minimum and our impact on the environment as small as possible. At Mayfield Farm Bakery we believe everyone should do what they can to support others.
This can be a challenge, especially as most of our time is devoted to baking artisan bread and cakes. However, what if we could help by supplying discounted bread and cakes for others to sell, consume and raise funds for good causes? Whether you are holding a charity coffee morning or fund raising for your local school, if your event could benefit please let us know.
We are also able to help fundraising in other ways also for example you may want to arrange a visit to the bakery. We would be delighted to help you organise your fundraising event, whether it be an afternoon tea, hiring out the Mayfield Dairy, having a talk or demonstration.
We see it as part of our social responsibility to do what we can to support local charities and the community. Sadly we are not sufficiently large to support all of the causes that ask for our support so we tend to lend our support to St Clare’s Hospice, children’s charities, those in crisis and community wellbeing.
We currently donate our surplus bread to people in crisis in Harlow through our link with Rainbow Services and the Food Bank, which is designed to provide emergency food to individuals and families in crisis, aiming to help people break through their cycle of poverty.
If you would like us to donate, perhaps a raffle prize, we are happy to do that if there are sufficient funds in our budget. We would need a letter from you giving us details of the charity including the charity commission number, the date of the event and the type of event for our records. We would ask in return that you mention us in your promotional material.
We are currently focusing on a project of our own for the benefit of the surrounding communities – we are fundraising for a public access defibrillator with the help of the British Heart Foundation. We will be running fundraising events for this cause and would love if you could come and support it.
Our green policy
We also believe everyone should do what they can to reduce their impact on the environment.
To this end we try to source the best ingredients as locally as possible, keeping food miles to a minimum and our carbon emissions as low as we can.
We use biodegradable packaging wherever possible and keep plastics to a minimum, reducing our impact on landfill.
When we have bread food waste not suitable for Food Bank donation, we would rather give it to animal charities for feed than see it go to landfill.
If you are an animal sanctuary and could make use of any food waste then please contact us so we can arrange collection.
